Master’s degree and one year of appropriate experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Special Conditions
The department is especially interested in candidates with higher education work experience — financial aid and scholarships experience is preferred.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Extended hours and weekend work may occasionally be required to handle high volume and/or outreach/recruitment events. Advanced notice will be provided.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Job Duties

 

Duties & Responsibilities
Provides general informational and advising services regarding student financial aid and scholarships to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Provides service in person, via phone, email, and technology-based communications with access to Federal and State financial aid website.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists students with completion of their financial aid file/application, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), accepting financial aid awards, completing loan counseling, completing Master Promissory Notes, applying for scholarships, reviewing accounts, submitting outside scholarship resources, and updating personal information.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review student accounts to ensure compliance with cumulative and annual aid limits, prevent over awards, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Analyzes and respond to student requests to ensure problem resolution. This may include working directly with departments and advisors on campus when referral and redirection is needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Represent the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office by participating in outreach events such as New Student Orientation, high school college fairs, and recruitment events. Organize, schedule, and facilitate Financial Literacy workshops to campus organizations and the campus community. Utilize independent thinking to respond to student needs. Some public speaking may be required. Some evening and weekend events are required.

Posts awards from various sources (UofM departments, UofM Foundation, external organizations, etc.), serves on various internal committees, and reviews/processes certain reports as needed by the department.

Scans and index documents received using OnBase; loads all financial aid and scholarship forms and documents into the Banner system, and routes to appropriate staff member for further action. May request additional documents as needed. Retrieves and sends fax transmittals. Retrieves daily incoming mail and processes outgoing mail.

Other duties as assigned, which may include assisting other areas within the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships depending upon the needs of the office.
