Job Description

The Admission Counselor works under the general direction of the Director of Traditional
Admissions and is primarily responsible for achieving enrollment goals for the school’s on-campus degree programs through recruiting, advising, and various enrollment management
activities with an emphasis on first-time freshmen and travel to fairs, churches, and high
schools. The Admissions Counselor is a professional role with significant autonomy and
responsibilities yet work closely with the enrollment team and individuals in other
departments to successfully meet individual and team goals.

Works under the general supervision of the Director of Traditional Admissions

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Time Allocation
Primary/critical responsibilities

60%
Student Recruiting: Serves as the primary Admissions representative
to prospective students and their families and includes a focus on first-time freshman; maintains regular contact with prospective students
through ongoing communication including face-to-face meetings,
phone calls, campus visits, texting, email, written correspondence, and
social media from the inquiry stage through enrollment;
communicates an in-depth knowledge of the college’s mission,
academic programs, admissions process, financial aid awareness,
campus life, athletics, and other distinctions; functions as the primary
liaison for the prospective student in connecting with key
departments; provides a high level of customer service including
timely response to any prospective student inquiries.

Process and Plan Development: Responsibilities include: development
of recruiting strategy within areas of emphasis and timeline in
conjunction with Director of Traditional Admissions; utilization of
Salesforce, and overall admissions process; develop and report on
student recruiting metrics on a weekly/monthly/annual basis; identifies,
schedules, and visits high schools, college fairs, conventions,
community colleges, churches, music festivals, etc. within an assigned
geographic area recruiting prospective students for the college.
Overnight recruitment travel will be required; develop an effective
relationships with those who may influence youth about their college
decision such as high school counselors, community college advisors
and faculty, youth pastors, alumni, etc. Take leadership in the
development of relationships with youth pastors and on-campus visit
experiences.

Travel/Events: participate in on-campus visits and recruiting events,
including overnight/weekend visits, facilities rentals (camps,
tournaments, leagues, etc.); participate in off-campus recruiting events,
including but not limited to C&MA student events (LIFE, District
Conferences, NEXT, etc.), local college fairs, camps, recruiting events,
church and school visits, etc.

Administrative: Responsibilities include: stay current and
knowledgeable on the entire admissions process; utilizing Salesforce
and logging all communication in the recruiting process; regular
communication with Director of Traditional Admissions to provide
updates on all areas of responsibility and progress; regular meetings
with the admissions team to evaluate the status of prospective students
and progress toward goals; produces requested reports as needed;
participate in the development of admissions policies and procedures;
assists in the training and management of student workers.

Miscellaneous: Perform all other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license or equivalent out-of-state
license.
  • Minimum of two years of increased responsibility and success in higher education
especially in recruitment, admissions and marketing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Crown College alum
  • Previous admissions, marketing or sales-related experience
  • Experience working with Salesforce or a similar CRM/database
  • Understanding of higher education, specifically in the faith-based realm


EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION: Works from an office at Crown College. Equipment used
includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, telephone, printer,
calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires.

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Use the telephone and computer for extended periods of time.
  • To have hand and arm (or equivalent) dexterity adequate to allow for extensive use of
a keyboard for data entry.

and applicants by phone or in person.
  • To have adequate vision to accommodate frequent viewing of computer screens.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to ten (10) pounds and infrequently
lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
