Job Summary
The Police Officer serves as a vital member of the law enforcement community, dedicated to maintaining public safety and order. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, enforcing laws, and engaging with the community to foster trust and cooperation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong ethical standards, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to protecting and serving the public.

 

Duties

  • Patrol designated areas on foot or in a vehicle to deter and detect criminal activity.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents, providing assistance as needed.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Enforce laws and regulations while ensuring compliance with immigration law when applicable.
  • Manage conflicts effectively, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
  • Provide first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring the health and safety of individuals involved in incidents.
  • Handle animals safely in situations requiring animal control or intervention.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to enhance public safety initiatives.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain certification and stay updated on best practices in criminal investigation techniques.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in criminal justice is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to law enforcement are advantageous.
  • Strong report writing skills for documenting incidents accurately and comprehensively.
  • Knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and techniques is essential.
  • Familiarity with militarized policing practices may be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Experience or training in animal handling is a plus.

 

Candidates must be committed to upholding the law with integrity while actively engaging with the community they serve.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $48,004.00 per year

Experience:

Ability to Relocate:

  • Jefferson City, MO 65101: Relocate before starting work (Required)
