Sauk Valley Community College, a comprehensive community college located in a picturesque rural setting invites applications from innovative individuals for a Director of Financial Assistance.

Located in rural northwestern Illinois, along the scenic Rock River, between the cities of Dixon and Sterling; the College is one hour from Rockford and the Quad Cities and two hours west of Chicago. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage day-to-day operations of the financial assistance office.
2. Plan, assign, and monitor the accuracy of work for office staff.
3. Prepare and disseminate information on financial aid programs for interested students, the community, faculty, and staff.
4. Provide guidance and counsel to students who seek financial assistance for post-SVCC education.
5. Administer a program of awarding financial aid awards and disbursements to students.
6. Maintain comprehensive student financial aid records according to rules, regulatory legislation, and institutional requirements, including notification to the business office of award recipients and amounts.
7. Support and actively participate in producing and maintaining student management software
(BANNER Financial Aid Module) and student employment systems.
8. Keep informed of revisions and legislative developments in state and national student aid programs.
9. Develop and prepare proposals for student aid programs.
10. Prepare fiscal reports on federal and state financial aid programs.
11. Supervise and coordinate the College work-study and scholarship programs.
12. Oversee the activities of veteran services.
13. Develop the annual goals and objectives in cooperation with the supervisor.
14. Prepare and submit the requested information for annual, state, and federal audits to the supervisor.
15. Initiate, develop, and devise systems and procedures for improving workflow.
16. Ensure that necessary upgrades to federal, state, and institutional software are installed correctly and in a timely manner.
17. Administer, coordinate, and maintain the Sauk Scholar’s Award program records.
18. Develop the academic year budget, setting award dates and maximums for specific programs.
19. Develop comprehensive technical training materials for office use.
20. Be familiar with FERPA/GLB and maintain the confidentiality of all student records and files.
21. Serve as a member of the administrative team, including service on the administrative council, and cooperate with all administration members in addressing issues related to student support services and the College’s overall mission.
22. Serve as Administrator on Duty on a rotating basis (3% tort).
23. Prepare and submit to the supervisor all reports required or requested by the College, including operational plans.
24. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

 
REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is
preferred. A minimum of two years of financial aid experience, including administering institutional
grants/scholarships, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Knowledge of financial aid programs and regulations is also required. Supervisory experience in an educational setting and experience with Banner are preferred.

Hiring Range : $76,400.00-$93,400.00
