This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Trades Maintenance Worker 2 position for the Transportation Services department at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position is in the Transportation Services department within the Division of Finance and Administration at Oregon State University. Transportation Services supports the University’s mission by providing faculty, staff, students, and visitors with safe, sustainable, customer-focused, and fiscally sound transportation programs and services. The Transportation Services department includes staff who specialize in parking, motor pool, and transportation options.

Key Responsibilities

70% Maintenance & Repairs
The expectation of this position is to visit all parking areas daily. The person in this position is responsible for the total care and upkeep of all T.S. resources in and around the Oregon State University Corvallis Campus. This position will operate a computer or a mobile device to access email and CMMS work orders. They will also carry a radio for communications. Responsibilities and care and upkeep duties will include:

This position will keep records of their work, work records may include:
  • Initiate work order requests for approval
  • Enter work requests into department CMMS to track work completed.
  • Completing area checklist for daily, monthly, and semi-annual inspections.

10% Supplementary Tasks
Operational support tasks may also be assigned such as:
Arranging, organizing, and cleaning maintenance shop space for efficient use

Maintenance of departmental equipment such as:
  • motorized equipment
  • paint sprayers
  • crack cleaning and sealing equipment
  • compactors
  • backpack blowers

Moving furniture

Carrying boxes of material

Special event support

Additional supplementary tasks may include:
  • Emergency traffic control
  • Emergency First Aid

5% Projects
This position will work with other employees in support of large projects such as:
  • Installing specialized parking equipment or structures
  • Installing bike lockers or other transportation-related amenities
  • Installing signage
  • Concrete work
  • Large parking lot painting jobs
  • Limited duration emergency traffic control

5% Other Duties as Assigned

What We Require

Three years of general building maintenance experience in one or more of the following trade areas: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, and welding. NOTE: Some positions may require licensure or certification in a specific trade area.

What You Will Need

Construction or maintenance experience including the use hand and power tools, work site safety and common construction/maintenance practices.

Commitment to promoting an inclusive work environment.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Applicants should be prepared to give examples of their ability to follow instructions whether written, verbal or digital and complete assigned tasks.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position will require working outside in all types of weather. The physical requirements are bending, stooping, walking, lift up to 70 lbs., standing for long periods of time and ability to push and/or pull heavy objects. Due to the variety and unpredictable nature of maintenance and repair duties, work hours may vary. This position may also be required to work evenings, weekends or holidays.
