Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, has an immediate need for a FT Building Services Supervisor. In the Office of Facilities. The work schedule is Monday – Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, grade 23 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging, and inclusiveness.

The Building Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising staff engaged in the provision of routine maintenance, minor repairs, and other custodial and/or janitorial services for one or more campus facilities. Responsibilities include establishing work schedules, training and supervising staff, inspecting completed work, and maintaining work records.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform various supervisory functions for assigned staff such as assigning specific duties to staff, establishing priorities/deadlines and monitoring and evaluating work performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend commendation, formal and informal coaching, and disciplinary action.
  • Evaluate the training needs of staff and coordinate/conduct in-house training.
  • Provide oversight for contractors (obtain/review bids, supervise and guide work, complete purchase orders, inspect, and sign off completed jobs).
  • Supervise all campus painting activities of assigned staff.
  • Maintain chemical safety data sheets (SDS) documentation.
  • Operate College vehicles, various tools and types of equipment.    
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D and any combination of education, training, and experience providing understanding of the trade and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience performing and leading others in building custodial work.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Knowledge and application of the methods, procedures, and techniques of building custodial and/or janitorial services, tools, equipment, and materials used, and hazard/safety precautions.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with institutional cleaning/janitorial practices, cleaning chemicals, and their proper use.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), the Internet, and Windows based applications is required.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Hiring Range: $54,468 – $70,797 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.  The maximum salary for this position is $87,125.
