Essential Job Duties
This position requires the ability to frequently lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodation). Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks such as grasping, pushing, and pulling cleaning equipment, as well as reaching above shoulders, bending, squatting, climbing, and balancing. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and the public, and follow all instructions and communications regarding assignments. Working Hours: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday – Friday
Key responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:
- Clean and sanitize designated areas using standard cleaning assignments to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or maintenance needs within buildings and promptly respond to emergencies and inclement weather
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, and scrubbers to complete tasks like dusting, disinfecting, and replenishing supplies
- Periodically strip and refinish floors, shampoo and extract carpets, and perform pressure washing of entrances, exterior walls, and windows
- Remove and manage recycling from centralized indoor recycling sites
- Assist with window washing and other seasonal cleaning tasks as needed
Other Responsibilities
- Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather, in addition to coordinating with coworkers during group response to emergencies.
- Participate in team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks and when spaces are accessible.
- Fill in for absent coworkers outside of your assigned area as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education
Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
Other Required Qualifications
- N/A
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in performing housekeeping duties.
- Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment.
- Prefer specialized training such as IEHA frontline two day program specilaizing in healthcare services and training on cross-contamination for the hospital.
- Ability to learn infection control protocol, AALAC (State inspection for vet schools), and learn the specific chemicals for disinfecting areas exposed to the parvo viruses only related to animals, end of day disinfection protocols and processes for cleaning medical spaces.
