Marketing Associate

Job Description

The Marketing Associate supports social media strategy and execution for Jhpiego’s global accounts and oversees a large suite of country- and program-level social media accounts in addition to Jhpiego’s global channels. The Marketing Associate plans the year-long calendar of content for Jhpiego’s social media channels, working closely with the Marketing and Communications team to execute paid and organic campaigns that highlight Jhpiego’s programs, technical expertise, and impact.


The role oversees Jhpiego’s social media calendar, including campaigns and supports the marketing and communications team as needed around content creation. The role sources content from technical leaders and global communicators across the organization. The Marketing Associate also leads social media strategy for high-visibility conferences and events and is a content creator, routinely building innovative, on-brand text, and visual design for social channels and ensures paid advertising infrastructure is managed and constructed to perform successfully.


The Marketing Associate tracks social metrics and tracks social-media related KPIs for the marketing team.


Responsibilities

  • Social Media Strategy, Execution, and Analysis
  • Oversee the year-long social media calendar, negotiating and handling inputs from across the organization
  • Catalyze audience growth on global and country-level platforms through organic and paid engagement strategies
  • Implement multichannel social media strategically within the framework of overarching marketing campaigns that generates new leads, new donors or increased brand awareness
  • Serve as the final set of eyes on all content across Jhpiego’s global channels, and as a brand and content expert to country-level accounts
  • Work with the global communications team and country communications maximizing their social media presence and help onboard countries to new channels
  • Mentorship for country-led communicators and monitoring social media accounts
  • Work with the events team to develop innovative social strategies for routine events and conferences
  • Develop and execute social content for key senior leaders and maintain some senior leader social media accounts
  • Maintain good standing across all social media channels, coordinating back-end updates, security requirements, and platform maintenance
  • Track, measure, and analyze all social content to report on social media successes and failures, ensuring strategies are optimized for engagement, lead generation, and donor creation
  • Staying up to date with latest social media trends and keeping Jhpiego focused on future-forward techniques to emphasize our message and brand
  • Execute paid advertising strategies across global channels to:
  • Discover new donors and potential donors
  • Increase brand awareness
  • Raise funds
  • With external vendors, ensure fresh, truthful and effective creative on all paid advertising campaigns
  • Experiment with different advertising styles to deliver on strategic objectives
  • Maintain paid advertising status on all channels to ensure marketing readiness at all times


Content Creation

  • Lead efforts to write social content across all social media channels, ensuring routine fit-for-channel posts. Work alongside the marketing and communications team and other colleagues and serve as an editor and mentor when needed to improve content for social purposes.
  • Lead design of multimedia content for social media channels, including photography, mixed media, and videography
  • Act as an expert content creator within Meta products, including platforms such as Instagram stories, ensuring highly custom content that fits the channel
  • Experiment with new forms of content routinely, examine engagement data and iterate to find new ways to deliver Jhpiego content
  • Manage Jhpiego’s digital assets, including our photography and videography library, as well as social templates, and execute ways to share appropriately across our organization and externally.
  • Serve as the final set of eyes on all social media content, ensuring appropriate, technically correct, ethical and impactful content across all social channels


Comms Support

  • Website support and digital content oversight
  • Event and conference promotion support to amplify Jhpiego’s presence and visibility
  • Write and edit digital content for a variety of platforms and mediums including the Jhpiego.org website, emails, and presentations.
  • Support the development team as needed on an ad hoc basis


Special Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Ability to translate complex scientific topics into simple, digestible content
  • Nuanced understanding of social media landscape and ability to customize content based on channel and audience
  • Ability to think creatively and execute new and innovative social campaigns
  • Ability to understand and make decisions based on robust social media data and analytics
  • Demonstrated project management ability
  • Demonstrated ability to run advertising campaigns on Meta and LinkedIn
  • Technical skills:
    • Software skills should include a thorough understanding of Adobe design products, PowerPoint, video and photo editing software such as Premiere Pro and Lightroom, Canva
    • Solid understanding of social media analytics platforms such as Hootsuite and Sprout Social
    • Ability to make data-driven decisions that inform paid and organic marketing strategies
    • Graphic design, photography and videography; demonstrated understanding of how multimedia components are best leveraged across digital channels






Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience andadditional related experience may substitute for required educationbeyond a high school diploma/ graduation equivalent, to the extentpermitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in the related field with 5+ years experience

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
