Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour

Responsibilities*
? Coordinate, implement and evaluate new employee orientation.
? Identify on-going educational needs and facilitate in-services as appropriate to the needs of the nursing team.
? Assist in the design and implementation of staff developmental plans.
? Accomplish these activities in collaboration with the Nursing Leadership Team.
? Coordinate the completion of unit based mandatories/competencies and institutional regulatory requirements.
? Conduct individualized and group learning programs for members of the nursing staff.
? Provide on-going educational needs and facilitate in-services/nursing rounds as appropriate to the needs of the nursing staff.
? Actively participate as a member of the Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Procedures Multidisciplinary and Nursing Leadership teams, in area improvement efforts such as research and CQI.
? Maintain accurate documentation in hospital records and other databases.
? Remain knowledgeable in relevant care standards.
? Bedside staffing is a required component of the appointment.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:
ENC- COMPETENT.
Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT to ENC-EXPERT TO ENC-MASTERY to ENC- MASTERY PLUS

Required Qualifications*
Candidate must hold a current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
A Bachelor of Science in nursing degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated expert nursing knowledge in the care of the critically ill congenital heart cardiac procedures with five (5) or more years of experience pediatric congenital heart population
Candidate must be able to provide direct patient care to demonstrate the clinical nursing role
PALS certification is required (or within six (6) months of date of hire) or MUST be completed prior to end of probationary period.

Demonstrated unit and committee involvement with evidence of accepting increasing responsibilities which could include experience in the Charge Nurse Role, preceptor experience, teaching experience, in-service speaker, nursing competency work, etc., as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations.
Demonstrated knowledge of current documentation and practice standards and evidence of their application into daily practice.
Demonstrated ability to effectively share knowledge with others and evaluate learning progress of staff, as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations.

Desired Qualifications*
? A Bachelor of Science in nursing degree.
? Experience as a circulating RN in Pediatric or Congenital Cardiac Cath Lab highly desired.
? Ability to utilize word processing and data base programs such as Microsoft Word/Excel and PowerPoint to create new documents, enter data, generate graphs and produce presentations.
? Demonstrated development of staff educational materials, including CEU approved programs.
? Knowledge and experience with the concepts of continuous quality improvement.
? Demonstrated knowledge of UMHS policies, procedures, and practices is required.
? PALS/ACLS/RCIS/RCES certification.
Work Schedule
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: Days with flexibility to the needs of the unit.
8 or 10 hour shift length working primarily days with flexibility to work occasional evening/night shift hours to cover critical after hours duties related to patient care.
On Call may be required
Location: Mott Children's Hospital-11th Floor ? Mott Cath/EP Lab
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
