This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
POSITION SPECIFICS
The Grigoryev Lab at the Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Precision Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania is seeking an entry level postdoctoral scholar with extensive hands-on experience with Cryo-Electron Tomography (Cryo-ET), including sample preparation (vitrification), data collection, and tomogram reconstruction.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or a related field.
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in the structural and biochemical analysis of chromatin, including techniques such as: Chromatin fractionation using methods like differential solubility or ultracentrifugation, in vitro reconstitution of nucleosome arrays from DNA templates and histones, proficiency in standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques, experience with 3D image processing and modeling software for structural analysis (such as IMOD and UCSF Chimera).
A strong background in computational biology and bioinformatics, with experience in: Applying deep-learning or AI-based methods for image denoising. analysis of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) or other large-scale sequencing data, utilizing bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., ENCODE, UCSC genomic database) for epigenomic analysis is required.
Proficiency in mammalian cell culture techniques, including experience with both adherent (e.g., HeLa, NIH/3T3) and suspension (e.g., K562) cell lines is preferred.
