The Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies (CAST) is seeking a motivated AR/VR Frontend Programmer to support research in human-machine interaction, immersive visualization, and simulation. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, researchers, and graduate students to develop and maintain AR/VR applications that enable novel ways of interacting with systems and data.

Essential Job Duties

• Front-end software development: implement user-facing features and UI components, write modular, testable code and address defects.
• Reporting and documentation: document architecture, components and release notes, produce progress updates and demo materials.
• Experimentation and prototyping: design and carry out user studies, assess libraries/tools and create proof-of-concepts, establish patterns for reuse (design system, utilities).

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in C#, C++, or Python.
• Experience with Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or other AR/VR development platforms.
• Familiarity with AR/VR hardware (e.g., Quest, HoloLens) and SDKs.
• Solid understanding of 3D graphics, rendering, and interaction design.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of 3D modeling workflows and asset optimization.
• Background in human-machine interaction.
• Ability to prototype rapidly and adapt to evolving research needs.
